On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, the Africa Institute for Research in Economics and Social Sciences (AIRESS) hosted a research seminar at the Rabat campus of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University on the topic "The Economic Geography of Green Industrial Policies in Europe: The Case of Electric Batteries."
The seminar was led by David Gergely Karas, Postdoctoral Fellow at the CEU Democracy Institute.
In his presentation, Dr. Karas explored how European and peripheral European countries' green industrial policies are reshaping the organization of production and international labor division. By moving beyond the typically national framework of industrial policy studies, his work highlighted the strategies and interventions used by various public actors in Europe to safeguard the competitiveness of the European automotive sector.
