Growth as en engine of development

Historical data clearly show the importance of economic growth as a necessary but not sufficient condition for the economic and social development of economies. Several African countries are lagging behind in major economic indicators and have all set themselves the goal of achieving levels of growth that will improve the well-being of their citizens. One of the major challenges facing the countries of the continent is that this development will have to be done while minimizing the negative impacts on the environment and ecosystems and controlling or even reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the coming years. The projects in this area will focus on the determinants and brakes of economic growth, as well as the most favorable trajectories for sustainable growth for African countries. The challenges of globalization will also be addressed in this axis. Industrial development, innovation and infrastructure will be addressed under this axis (SDG 9). Labor market and human capital development will be addressed in the programming of this axis (SDG 8).
