AIRESS RESEARCH SEMINAR - KINSHIP, COMPLEXITY, AND PUNISHMENT ACROSS SOCIETIES

On Wednesday, February 11, Professor Zachary Garfield conducted a research seminar on the relationship between kinship structures, societal complexity, and punishment systems across diverse societies. Based on an analysis of 2,029 ethnographic texts from 60 largely nonindustrial societies, he examined patterns of second-party punishment (2PP) and third-party punishment (3PP).
