On Wednesday, February 4, the Africa Institute for Research in Economics and Social Sciences hosted Professor Eduardo Amaral Haddad for a research seminar on ''Measuring the ocean economy using an interregional input–output framework''. During his presentation, he explained how ocean-related value added and employment extend well beyond coastal regions through complex interregional linkages, underscoring the limitations of narrowly defined measures and the importance of capturing spillover effects across regions.
