This week’s AIRESS Research Seminar, conducted by Professor Jean-Louis Arcand, provided a rigorous and data-driven assessment of the economic devastation caused by the Israel–Hamas war on the Gaza Strip. Drawing on innovative satellite-based measures of physical destruction and economic activity, the seminar highlighted the unprecedented scale of damage to Gaza’s built environment and the dramatic collapse of economic life.
