The Africa Institute for Research in Economics and Social Sciences is organizing an International Conference titled ''Africa-Europe Relations in an Age of Global Reshuffle: Diverging Visions, Shared Futures'' in partnership with NEAR-ER on October 20, 21 and 22 at the UM6P Rabat Campus.
ABSTRACT
Relations between Africa and Europe are unfolding in a dynamic global context marked by intensifying geopolitical and geoeconomic competition, shifting alliances, and the growing presence of emerging powers. As the United States reduces its footprint in development cooperation, actors such as China, the Gulf states, Turkey, and India are expanding their political and economic engagement across the African continent. These shifts raise important questions about the evolving nature of Africa’s international relations, the future of EU-Africa cooperation, and the role of governance, rule of law, and regional institutions in shaping the bi-regional relationship. These changes at the global level also impact the continents’ models for democracy, governance reform, political legitimacy, and varieties of constitutions and constitutionalism. Against this backdrop, the African Institute for Research in Economics and Social Sciences of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, in association with the Jean Monnet Policy Debate Network NEAR-ER will host an academic conference themed Diverging Visions, Shared Futures. Africa-Europe Relations in an Age of Global Reshuffle.
