The Africa Institute for Research in Economics and Social Sciences (AIRESS) organized a seminar on Wednesday, January 22nd on "Conflict and Cooperation among Rural Pastoralists in Ethiopia's Omo Valley," led by Professor Zachary Garfield at the UM6P Rabat Campus.

The seminar provided valuable insights into the social dynamics of rural pastoralist communities, focusing on how cooperation and conflict arise in the absence of state-based political structures.

Professor Garfield’s presentation explored key aspects such as third-party mediation, social structures, and the roles of both formal and informal social ties, like friendship, in conflict resolution.
