Our guest speaker for this event is Rema Hanna, Jeffrey Cheah Professor of South-East Asia Studies and Chair of the International Development Area at the Harvard Kennedy School.

Abstract

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, many developing countries have sought to invest in the provision of social protection. However, important challenges in the implementation of these programs remain. Who is eligible to receive social assistance and how can they be identified? How can the government ensure that assistance actually reaches the targeted families? Building on evidence from randomized impact evaluations in Indonesia, Prof. Hanna will provide insight into effective approaches for low and middle income countries to overcome some of these common challenges.
